The Application & Technology of Floating Structures
The object of the conference is to demonstrate the potential of floating structures as a disruptive space solution to overcome Singapore’s land crunch. This conference discusses topics, which would appeal to marine engineers, civil and structural engineers, naval architects, architects, town planners, policy makers, academics and students in the offshore industry, shipyard industry, classification societies and universities. This conference will also include the official launch of the Society of Floating Solutions (Singapore) or SFSS for brevity.

World Conference on Floating Solutions 2019
Singapore, a third world country under the British rule, is today the most expensive city in the world according to a 2018 EIU survey. It has reclaimed land relentlessly to fuel its economic growth. 25% of its original 578 sq. km footprint has been reclaimed from the sea. In the same time span, the population grew by 380%, making it the world’s densest country. The country has an insatiable appetite for space but land reclamation has become more challenging year by year, as sand mining is ecologically damaging and banned by those countries, which traditionally supplied sand to Singapore.
