The 1.5 GW Haewoori floating offshore wind project in South Korea has reached a key regulatory milestone, with approval granted for its Marine Traffic Safety Assessment (MTSA) by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.

Developed by Haewoori Offshore Wind, a project company of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), the project is located around 80 kilometres off the coast of Ulsan. Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) is responsible for development, operations, and maintenance, supported by CIP’s investment.

All three phases of the project have already secured Electric Business Licenses, and contracts for the production, transport, and installation of floating foundations have been awarded. The developer has emphasized ongoing collaboration with authorities and local stakeholders to ensure safe and responsible delivery.

The Haewoori project underlines South Korea’s ambition to scale up floating wind as part of its clean energy transition, alongside other major floating wind developments now progressing through permitting.
