In line with the Philippines’ energy transition strategy, Black & Veatch has successfully completed the country’s first megawatt-scale floating solar power plant at Malubog Reservoir, Cebu City. Using Sungrow FPV’s floating solar system solutions, the 4.99 MW plant supplies clean and stable electricity to the Carmen Copper mining site, meeting about 10% of its energy demand.
The system is engineered for extreme conditions, featuring:
- Robust wind resistance: Designed for winds up to 75 m/s and withstood over one million fatigue test cycles.
- Superior anti-corrosion performance: Passed 4,200 hours of CX-class environmental testing and 18,000+ hours of real-world marine exposure.
This floating solar project saves valuable land, provides high-generation efficiency, and marks a significant milestone in the Philippines’ renewable energy and mining sector green transition. Sungrow FPV provided full end-to-end support from design to commissioning, ensuring a smooth project completion.
