Galileo Energy and Hope Group have secured the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) permit for the 1.1 GW Barium Bay floating offshore wind project — the largest offshore wind farm to reach this stage in Italy and the Mediterranean.
📍 Located over 45 km off the coast between Bari and Barletta in the Apulia region, Barium Bay is projected to:
- Generate 3+ billion kWh/year
- Power 1 million+ homes
- Attract billions in investment
- Create thousands of skilled jobs
With approval from Italy’s Ministries of Environment and Culture, the project now qualifies for the FER2 CfD auction, contributing to Italy’s clean energy future. 🌊⚡
