Masdar and PLN (Perusahaan Listrik Negara) have signed an MoU to develop a new floating solar power plant at the Jatigede Dam in West Java, after Masdar secured the lowest tariff in the Hijaunesia 2023 programme. Development is set to begin in 2025, with completion expected in 2027.
This follows the success of the Cirata Floating PV Plant—Southeast Asia’s largest—which began operations in November 2023 and now powers 50,000 homes while displacing 214,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. Masdar and PLN are also exploring a potential expansion of Cirata’s capacity, based on positive feasibility studies.
These initiatives are key to supporting Indonesia’s net-zero by 2050 ambition and demonstrate how strong international partnerships can accelerate the clean energy transition.
