Gazelle Wind Power secures approval for floating wind demo in Portugal
Gazelle Wind Power has received a 10-year TUPEM authorisation to launch its full-scale floating wind demonstrator off the coast of Aguçadoura, Portugal — the site of Europe’s pioneering WindFloat 1 project.
Their patented platform features a compact geometry and counterweight system that cuts steel use, reduces capex, and enables deployment from shallow-water ports. This demo will pave the way for commercial rollouts, offering a more cost-effective and scalable floating wind solution.
CEO John Salazar calls this milestone “a major step forward in our roadmap to commercialisation.”
Congratulations to the team — another step toward a lower-cost, sustainable offshore wind future.
