Norway advances floating wind at Utsira Nord
The Norwegian government has submitted its support scheme for the Utsira Nord floating wind farm to the EFTA Surveillance Authority, clearing the way for a competition to allocate three project areas.
Following a two-year maturation phase, developers can bid in a competitive auction for a 500 MW project—awarded to the lowest bidder for state aid, within a €3B cap.
This is Norway’s first major step toward commercial-scale floating wind and a key milestone in accelerating the green energy transition.
