Singapore’s First Solar-Powered River Boats Set Sail!

Post Date:

2 of the first 10 Pyxis R ferries—solar-powered electric boats—will begin operations along the Singapore River next month, with the rest joining by the end of the year. Developed by local start-up Pyxis, these vessels will eventually replace half of WaterB’s 20-boat fleet.

🔋 Each boat generates up to 22 kWh of solar energy daily, enough for 2 HDB flats—and collectively function as a “floating solar farm.”

⚡ They’re also among the first in Singapore with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) tech, allowing them to return excess energy back to the grid or power micro-waterfront events.

This green innovation blends tradition with tech, supporting Singapore’s goals in sustainable tourism, clean energy, and maritime electrification.

Kudos to Pyxis Maritime, WaterB, SP Group, and The Mobility House on this exciting milestone! 👏
