China company announces huge leap in offshore wind turbine size, surprising industry

As Europe builds its offshore wind capacity, China’s Dongfang Electric has set a new benchmark with a 26 MW offshore wind turbine, the largest in the world. This turbine, developed as part of China’s drive to reduce energy costs, has a 31% greater capacity than the previous record-holder.
With blades reaching a diameter of 310 meters, Dongfang’s breakthrough could pave the way for more efficient and powerful turbines globally.
