Indonesia’s state-owned electricity company, PT PLN Indonesia, has partnered with a Saudi Arabian company to build a 60-megawatt floating solar power plant at Saguling Reservoir in West Java. This initiative strengthens renewable energy collaboration between the two nations and supports Indonesia’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060. The project is expected to be commercially operational by June 2026.
In addition, Indonesia recently inaugurated the Cirata floating solar power plant in November 2023, the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia, funded by UAE-based Masdar.
