According to a recent LA Times feature, the Port of Long Beach has partnered with the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) and maritime tech startup Bluecore Energy to develop barge-mounted Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). If successful, this ambitious project will mark California’s first new nuclear power generation in 50 years!
