A consortium involving Cypark Resources Bhd and Sunview Group Bhd has secured a RM1.962 billion contract for a 595MWac floating solar photovoltaic power plant with battery energy storage system at Tasik Kenyir, Terengganu.
The engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning contract was awarded by TNB Power Generation Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Bhd. The project will be undertaken by an unincorporated consortium comprising Cypark Renewable Energy Sdn Bhd and Fabulous Sunview Sdn Bhd, with Cypark holding a 60% stake and Sunview holding 40%.
The contract is scheduled to begin on June 2, 2026, with a tenure of 850 days. According to Cypark, the Kenyir hydro floating solar photovoltaic plant is expected to become the largest floating solar PV development in Southeast Asia upon completion in 2028.
This project reflects Malaysia’s growing role in large-scale floating solar deployment and the increasing integration of battery energy storage systems into renewable energy infrastructure.
