The Port of Rotterdam is advancing a 96MW floating solar project at the De Slufter dredging depot, located within the Maasvlakte area.

The project, developed by the Sun Float Power consortium — comprising DevCap Infra BV, Solinoor BV and Enerparc AG — will cover approximately 80 hectares of water surface and generate around 87 GWh of electricity annually.

Due to grid congestion in the region, the energy produced will be supplied directly to nearby businesses rather than fed into the national grid, creating local value while avoiding additional strain on infrastructure.

Scheduled for completion in 2027, the project is expected to become one of Europe’s largest floating solar installations and reflects the Netherlands’ broader strategy to expand renewable energy through innovative use of available space.
