The World Conference on Floating Solutions (WCFS)—founded and owned by our society—is our annual flagship gathering.
Launched in 2019 in Singapore, the WCFS now brings together hundreds of participants each year who are engaged with floating structures. Built on a strong foundation provided by our interdisciplinary International Scientific Committee (ISC), the conference brings together researchers, businesses, public agencies, and regulators for meaningful theoretical and practical exchanges.
A rotating, global forum
The WCFS is hosted in a different country each year—including, but not limited to, Singapore—to promote worldwide knowledge-sharing on floating solutions as tools for:
- creating new livable space, food, freshwater, and power;
- developing aquatic spaces in environmentally and economically sustainable ways;
- mitigating and adapting to climate change, sea-level rise, and flooding, among other purposes
Rotating the conference across continents and cities—co-organized with a local host and supported by the ISC—helps to:
- broaden global interest in and knowledge of floating structures;
- reduce travel and attendance costs for participants from different regions;
- spotlight each host country’s local economic, environmental, and social conditions, challenges, and innovations;
- share case studies, methods, and data to inform future projects and policies;
- facilitate cross-sector dialogue between researchers, industry, and policymakers;
- assess the practical and academic impact of floating structures;
- support the regulatory viability of new solutions

Annual call for local hosts
Each January–February, we issue a call for local hosts for the WCFS, to be co-organized with us in autumn of the following year. Any interested organization—universities, companies, or public agencies, etc.—are welcome to express interest in co-organizing with us. Respondents will receive the call and guidance for preparing an Expression of Interest (EOI).
